Keep the change.
Hello hellllllllo..
Just dropping by to leave something you guys can think of.
So, I was in the bus today, like any other day and two women had an altercation with the driver as he said he didn't have 20c change for them. Now I know what you may be thinking, the same thing that I thought, it's just a 20c ladies.
I then thought more about this as the same driver then went on and told myself and someone else that I don't have change for you, this time being a 40c and some other amount less than R1. Now you know where this is going? Yeah. Well, to be honest, I'm not here to rant about whatever amount he ended up with due to no change (I believe him) but, rather to speak about when it's okay to let it go.
It's okay to let it go and say keep the change when you are buying from or paying for a service from a small company, a person or a very kind and giving entity who you trust and know NEEDS the money in order to make a living.
So pick'n'pay teller? I need the change. Shoprite? I need the change. Pay day at Dischem or Spar? I need the change (pay day doesn't last whole month). Buying fruit and veg from a street vendor? Keep the change. Buying a snack from a street vendor? Keep the change. Paying the waitress for your meal? Keep the change for yourself. Paying for your journey? I need the change unless the driver works for himself and you know him.
You should already get where I'm going with this. If you don't then uhm?
The main reason for this post is because if you allow a corporation to keep the change and you come back tomorrow a bit short of a couple of cents, that corporation won't accept "I don't have enough money", or, "you can use yesterday's change 🙃".
Also, please support local businesses!
Okay, that's all.
Bye
😅
