How do you feel when you speak about sex?

WHY does it always feel weird to open my mouth or give my opinion when it comes to sex or sexual behavior? Why does it seem more natural for Abdul to speak about sex more freely? Why does Becky look nonchalant when sexual slurs intentionally spills from her mouth? (If you're reading this Becky, no offense intended. I just used a non-Muslim name.) See. The thing is. As women, we are naturally a bit shy to discuss these topics. Some may claim that we shouldn't discuss it because it would be vulgar. Others would claim that it wouldn't be our place or our opinions wouldn't matter. I claim freedom of expression. It is one thing to feel shy being a woman when it comes to sex talk or sex education but it is a whole damn other thing when you're Muslim. I must say that not tooooo many people would point out my gender or religion if they would hear me discuss sex but I do not feel COMPLETELY comfortable when I speak about it. The reason why this is not that tough

Keep the change.

Hello hellllllllo.. Just dropping by to leave something you guys can think of. So, I was in the bus today, like any other day and two women had an altercation with the driver as he said he didn't have 20c change for them. Now I know what you may be thinking, the same thing that I thought, it's just a 20c ladies. I then thought more about this as the same driver then went on and told myself and someone else that I don't have change for you, this time being a 40c and some other amount less than R1. Now you know where this is going? Yeah. Well, to be honest, I'm not here to rant about whatever amount he ended up with due to no change (I believe him) but, rather to speak about when it's okay to let it go. It's okay to let it go and say keep the change when you are buying from or paying for a service from a small company, a person or a very kind and giving entity who you trust and know NEEDS the money in order to make a living. So pick'n'pay teller?

Journal Entry: Almost gave up blogging.

Just a normal Saturday, waking up around 3/4 a.m because apparently my body has gotten used to being awake at shitty hours because of my shitty shift. Decided to download a few old comedies and take advantage of my off-peak wifi cos how else am I ganna use it??? Went to the doctor to get my health sorted and even shaved my legs this morning which is a fucking miracle. On our car journey home, I just randomly thought of how I didn't blog in a while then thought of why it was. I then started to ponder and ponder and ponder. I felt like I just wanted to take a break from all social media (besides Whatsapp) to re-evaluate my life choices and what I put out there. I thought to myself, "you know what? You don't have to do this. You can live a minimalistic social life and be free of social media's noose around your neck and just live. Live freely. That's it." You know, we often think that only the physical things in life creates barriers and obstacles for us bec

No make-up and SELF LOVE

Image
So as most of you may know, I have been on a no make-up rave and have been loving it. This makes me turn to dealing with the root of the skincare problem instead of concealing it. Pun intended. I have been turning to my oh-so lovely diy face mask (click here for more on that) now more than ever. I'll pop a few pictures below so that you can see how nice it makes your skin and that you don't have to look dull when you're bare faced.  Don't mind the foil on my head. That was just an olive, mayo and egg hair mask.  Some mascara and eyebrow gel. I now personally have this tiff with makeup where I think it's just a whooooole lot of bs. No offence to the make-up artists and the ones who wears it because we're all just victims. I feel like when I used to wear it (full face), I got so used to seeing myself that way that when I actually take it off I don't see myself as attractive at all. There was no self love when there was make-up

Showing you my "underwear" 🙄

Image
Hi ladies! Today is just a very quick post to show you my most important item of layering for clothing. I do treat it as my underwear when wearing especially if it's sheer, meaning you can see through it hence the title of this post. It's not like those old-school woollen polo/turtleneck but it has been in fashion for quite some time now. Tbh, I don't even know what they are called lol but whatevs. I do have a few of them but the other 3 are still in the wash and they are gems! I cannot go low neckline at all but now I couldn't care less thanks to these babies.  I picked them up from Mr Price, Ackermans, JET stores and Donnaclaire and you can see tags on some as they are quite new as well. If you don't have any, try a basic black one! You can use it for modest/Winter wear and throw something over it like this ⤵ Shukran/Thank you for the quick read 💞👣 IG: @nishthemodestblogger

Famous Turmeric mask 💆

Image
Holaaa. Today I'm actually posting a video on how I do my turmeric mask along with a before and after. The before and after will also be posted in a picture below so that you can see. For those of you who will not be able to watch the video, just keep reading.  So what I've got in here is some turmeric, kalonji oil and raw honey. All this can fit in one tablespoon and I still had leftovers so you really don't need much. This is my before and you can see here that I have a warm undertone with pinkish hues. I used my bowen paintbrush lol. I always use them for my facials.  I let it dry for 40 mins or more because I was watching an episode of Chicago Med.  Here you can see my undertone is more yellowish and brighter now which I like more as the rest of my body looks like that 😊 If you'd rather watch the video then go ahead 😌 Thank you so much for your time and don't forget to share, comment and follow me he

DIY Hijab Pins 🍡

Image
Assalaam everyone! Today I finally sat down and made some hijab pins and listened to some Vidya Vox music.  Btw, I think my friend Tashreekah is the milky version of Vidya. Idk. I went and got some beads from the Bead Shop in Warwick Street, Claremont and some long Pear Pearl Pins from the Haberdashery in Warwick Street too. I used the nail glue that I already had which I use for all but gluing falsies onto my nails because no. Anyway, let's get started. Now that we've got what we need, we'll start by removing some of the heads of the pins. To be very honest, that tool didn't help me in removing them and I couldn't find a cutter at home so I used a brick and knocked them off so very easily. I'm not sure why I didn't think to look for a hammer. Inner cave woman behaviour perhaps? See? Now we'll get creative and mix and match your jewels and glue them on. You need a really strong hold glue btw. I've stuck them all toge

OLLY and the OILY gang.

Welcome back to another blogpost with the infamous Nishy. So today we are going to speak about which essential oils I use and why I use them. HUGE DISCLAIMER: I am not a profesh beauty something and I do what works for me. If you are suffering from any allergies, illnesses or may be pregnant then please consult your healthcare practitioner before using essential oils. Now that we've got that off my chest, we can get started. I use oils from different brands and I purchase them from Dischem Pharmacy .  - So we first going to speak about the Sweet Orange essential oil which is my fav all because of the scent. What I do is I use 1-3 drops of this oil and mix it with a bit of coconut oil and I apply this to my face and neck as it is very refreshing and smells like wonderlust if you love sweet oranges y'all. I also throw this into my bath when I feel like it. According to research, some of the amazing benefits includes, but is not limited to: Fighting cancerous t

Golden facial.

Image
Hi. Today I bring you what will be my new fortnightly ritual, inshallah. So you can probably tell that this post will be all about my new Golden Facial. Golden because it's pretty damn good and also because it kinda looks like gold dust. I love using haldi for my face because it has brightening and anti-inflammatory effects which is obviously a very good thing. It does stain yellow when used with water or milk but even then it just looks like you have a yellow under-tone. Ps. It can stain very badly but you can fix that with face wash however removing the stain from cloth will be a pain so beware. On the other hand, the volcanic ash is a very good detox for your body and skin. This is meant to be taken orally with water but can also be used on the skin every two weeks. Alright, alright I'll stop blabbering and get right into it. Key ingredients: Zeolite Powder - volcanic ash (Dischem) Natural - turmeric (Dischem?) Paani - bathroom tap Ratio for turmeric t

Most important hijab hack E V E R.

Image
Ladies and gentlemen. Yes, this can be used to bind any two pieces of cloth so if you're into event decorating then this is for you too! I have stumbled upon this hijab hack from Omaya Zein's hijab hacks video a couple of months ago and have ever since used this hack whenever I lost my button hijab pin. For the video, click  HERE So basically I took some pictures to do the self-explanatory thing-gy. If for some odd or very reasonable reason you cannot see the pictures then let me explain. (I speak like this) (Terrible) (I know) * does a perverse smile * So firstly, you need a safety pin and the back of a stud. I'm not sure what it's called but it's cylindrical in shape and has a hole in the middle of it. You can also use a tiny beed that will fit if you don't have one of these but, I'm pretty sure you would.  Thought just came to mind that you can also use a bit of an eraser if you have one or a small piece of rubber you can pierce!

Scored good quality make-up brushes

Image
Hello, hello, hello. This evening I thought I'd post about 3 new friends I picked up yesterday at Foschini. They are: Faatimah the foundation brush Bushra the blush brush Batool the blending brush This is the Colours Limited brand. Okay, so lemme just say that I have never used this brand before and saw it yesterday for the first time. I was impressed with the quality of the synthetic hair. I must say it's very rare to find good quality, cheap brushes. I can't remember the exact amount of each brush but it was under R40 each which is roughly under US $3 and British £2,50. I am almost 100% sure that this brand can only be bought at Foschini which is in South Africa. However, there are similar ones that can be found on Aliexpress or try looking around at the stands where they sell the really cheap make-up. You never know, you may find yourself some lovely friends too. 😄 The quality of these loves are obviously good so yeah. If you end up buying them th

One of the many ways to do your brows.

Image
Today I present another post but this one shows you an eyebrow regime that I tried out a couple of hours ago. What I used in this video: Brown gel liner Black gel liner Angled eyebrow/liner brush Brow gel mascara You can also try a brown brow pomade and clear brow gel or regular brown mascara. For the brush you can use a flat brush or a lip brush although it will be a bit more difficult and would require a light stroking technique because of its shape. The look may seem a bit harsh but when I show you a close up then it looks good. So without further ado, let's get to it. Soz for the quality but I filmed on my phone, was a tad bit lazy there. LOL for the thumbnail.

Colour in Winter.

Image
Are you afraid of colour?? I once was too.  Winter is the best season for browns, beige, and you get the drill.. If you're very new to the whole colour thing then best way to get started is by dipping your whole foot in before you go full on colour this Winter.. A simple way to keep it clean and chic is by wearing everything else colour coordinated then boom! Pink shoes or mustard skirt. Another way is to add a coloured scarf with matching earrings or shoes. Doesn't sound too crazy right? I know girrrrl. What I do most of the time is wear 50 shades of one colour. Inspired by Betty haha. Below I will show you how you can play with colour without it being too overwhelming. Now this skirt does make me look like Kim when she was 8 months pregnant but what the hell hey? I don't care. I have that kind of an attitude. Thank you for reading and follow me on IG at @nishaatsalaamalaikom
